Multiple revisions have been released for the Nintendo 3DS over the years, including the more-powerful "New Nintendo 3DS" series and the budget "2DS" set of consoles. All 3DS revisions run the same system software, so homebrew methods and software are generally identical (except in cases where the more-powerful hardware of the New Nintendo 3DS is required).
