Checking SD card integrity/Windows

From Hacks Guide Wiki
< Checking SD card integrityThis is the approved revision of this page, as well as being the most recent.

This is an add-on section for checking your SD card for errors using h2testw.

Depending on the size of your SD card and the speed of your computer, this process can take up to several hours!

This page is for Windows users only. If you are not on Windows, check out the Linux or Mac pages.

OOjs UI icon information-warning.svg Copy all of your SD's contents to your PC and then format the SD card before starting this guide. If you do not, h2testw will be unable to test the parts of the SD that still have data in them.

What You Need

  • The latest version of h2testw (direct download)

  1. Copy h2testw.exe from the h2testw .zip to your desktop
  2. Insert your SD card into your computer
  3. Run h2testw.exe
  4. Select "English"
  5. Click "Select target"
  6. Select your SD card's drive letter
  7. Ensure "all available space" is selected
  8. Click "Write + Verify"
  9. Wait until the process is completed
If the test shows the result Test finished without errors, your SD card is likely good. You can delete all .h2w files on your SD card.
If the test shows any other results, your SD card is failing. You will have to replace it!
