GodMode9 can be installed as a bootloader instead of boot9strap or fastboot3ds, but unless you exactly know what you're doing, you don't want it as it makes updating Luma3DS more difficult and removes some troubleshooting options. On this page, you will find instructions for going back to boot9strap.

What you need
- the latest release of Luma3DS (the Luma3DS
.zipfile) - the latest release of SafeB9SInstaller (direct download)
- the latest release of boot9strap (direct download)
Section I - Prep Work
- Power off your console
- Insert the SD card into your computer
- Copy
boot.firm,boot.3dsx, andconfigfrom the Luma3DS.zipto the root of your SD card - Create a folder named
boot9strapon the root of your SD card - Copy
boot9strap.firmandboot9strap.firm.shafrom the boot9strap.zipto the/boot9strap/folder on your SD card - Copy
SafeB9SInstaller.firmfrom the SafeB9SInstaller.zipto the/gm9/payloads/folder on your SD card - Reinsert your SD card into your console
Section II - Installing boot9strap
- Press and hold (R)+(Dpad-Left), and while holding (R)+(Dpad-Left), power on your console. This will launch GodMode9.
- If you see prompts such as selecting a language, creating an essential files backup or setting the RTC time and date, accept and/or complete these prompts until see the [root] menu on the top screen with the console's drives listed.
- Press (Home), then navigate to "Payloads..." and finally launch
SafeB9SInstaller.firm.- If your (Home) button is broken or otherwise does not open the action menu, try pressing the (Power) button instead.
- When prompted, input the key combo given on the top screen to install boot9strap
- If the top screen is blank, power off your device and re-do Section II
- Once it is complete, press (A) to reboot your device
