FBI is a title manager and file explorer for the 3DS. It can install titles from the SD card and the network, delete titles and tickets, and manage files on the SD card and NAND.

Features

  • Browse and modify the SD card, TWL photos, TWL sounds, savedata, and extdata.
  • Export, import, and erase save data from DS cartridges.
  • Export, import, and delete save data secure values.
  • Install titles/tickets from a file system, over a local network, or over the Internet with a URL or QR code.
    • Automatically imports title seeds on installation, either from the Internet or the SD card.
  • Browse and delete pending titles (downloaded updates, in-progress eShop titles, etc).
  • Customize appearance by placing replacements for RomFS resources in "sdmc:/fbi/theme/".
  • If running on a console with Luma3DS installed:
    • Browse and modify the CTRNAND, TWLNAND, and system save data.
    • Make a copy of the NAND on the SD card.
    • Launch titles installed to the NAND.

Installation

FBI is installed as part of Finalizing Setup on our custom firmware installation guide. It is also on Universal-Updater.

If you do not already have FBI from Finalizing Setup, the possible methods to install it are as follows:

What You Need

  • A 3DS console with Luma3DS installed
  • The Homebrew Launcher boot.3dsx on the SD root
  • The latest release of FBI (the FBI.cia and FBI.3dsx files)

Section I - Prep Work

  1. Take the SD card out of your console and put it into your PC
  2. Place FBI.cia into the folder sd:/cias
    • Create this folder if you do not already have it
  3. Place FBI.3dsx into the folder sd:/3ds
  4. Reinsert the SD card into your console

Section II - Installing FBI

  1. Turn your console on
  2. Enter the Homebrew Launcher
    • If you already have a Homebrew Launcher icon on the HOME Menu, use that
    • If you do not have this icon, do the following set of steps:
      1. Open Download Play
      2. Open Rosalina (the normal keycombo for this is L + D-PAD DOWN + SELECT)
      3. Go into Miscellaneous options, then select Switch the hb. title to the current app
      4. Press B until you exit Rosalina, then close Download Play and reopen it - at this point, the Homebrew Launcher should appear
  3. Launch FBI
  4. Open SD
  5. Open the cias folder
  6. Select FBI.cia
  7. Choose to Install and delete CIA

What You Need

  1. Open Universal-Updater
  2. Tap the magnifying glass on the bottom screen, then search for FBI
  3. Press A while hovering over FBI from the list of homebrew
  4. Choose FBI.cia
  5. Wait until the app installs
  6. Close Universal-Updater and unwrap the resulting gift on the HOME Menu

  • The latest release of GodMode9 on the SD card
  • The latest release of FBI (the FBI.cia file)

    • If you see the Luma3DS chainloader menu, select GodMode9 from the list
  2. Go into [0:] SDCARD, then into the cias folder
  3. Press A on FBI.cia to select it
  4. Select CIA image options...
  5. Select Install game image
  6. Press A to unlock writing to sysNAND (lvl1), then input the key combo given
  7. Press A to continue
  8. Press A to relock write permissions if prompted
  9. Press Start to reboot
