What You Need

  • Two 3DS consoles, both modded with Luma3DS
    • These will be referred to as the source console and destination console for this guide's purposes
    • If either console is not currently modded, stop and mod it with our custom firmware installation guide first
    • If the source console cannot be modded but you have access to ntrboot, you can use it instead during Section III
  • The latest release of 3DS NAND Savegame Dumper (the .firm file)

Instructions

Section I - Movable Moveover

  1. Before continuing, you must follow the Movable Moveover guide to its completion
    • You can use 3ds_essential_dumper to obtain the movable.sed file from the source console if it is not fully functional
Warning icon If you do not follow the Movable Moveover guide, some save data will not copy properly. If you do not want to transfer SD card data, this guide will not help you.

Section II - Prep Work

Info icon Follow these instructions on the source console only.
  1. Power off your console
  2. Insert your SD card into your computer
  3. Rename boot.firm to luma.firm, if it exists
  4. Copy 3ds_nandsave_dumper.firm to the root of your SD card
  5. Rename 3ds_nandsave_dumper.firm to boot.firm
  6. Reinsert your SD card into your console

Section III - NAND Savegame Dump

Info icon Follow these instructions on the source console only.
  1. Power on the console
    • If you must use ntrboot because the console is not modded, you should perform ntrboot now
  2. After a few seconds, the console should have booted into the 3DS NAND Savegame Dumper automatically
    • The script uses the top screen to show its status. If the top screen is broken, you will have to trust that the process completed successfully
  3. The script will begin automatically after 5 seconds. Wait 1-5 minutes for it to complete
  4. After the script completes, the console will power off automatically

Section IV - Transferring Files

  1. Insert the source console's SD card into your computer
  2. Copy the nandsaves folder inside the SD card to the Downloads folder on your computer
  3. Eject the source console's SD card from your computer
  4. Insert the destination console's SD card into your computer
  5. Copy the nandsaves folder from the Downloads folder on your computer to the root of your SD card
  6. Reinsert the destination console's SD card into the destination console

Section V - Data Transfer

Warning icon This process will overwrite all current NAND savegame data. A backup will be made at /gm9/out/data if you follow the instructions properly. For additional protection, you may want to create a NAND backup for the destination console before following this section.
Info icon Follow these instructions on the destination console only.
