3DS:Alternate Exploits/Homebrew Launcher (oot3dhax)

In the following instructions, we only cover launching the exploit on version 11.7.0-11.17.0. If you want to use an older version, you can use the otherapp payload from smea's page. Select your version, model and region on the page and use it like one from unSAFE_MODEs .zip's otherapps_with_CfgS. If you don't understand this, read the instructions first.

What You Need

• A second 3DS with custom firmware (the source 3DS)
• The game The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time 3D as a cartridge
• The latest release of oot3dhax_installer
• The latest release of Luma3DS
• The latest release of Otherapps with CfgS

Instructions

Section I-I - Prep Work - Source 3DS

1. Power off the source 3DS
2. Insert your source 3DS SD card into your computer
3. Create a folder named 3ds on the root of your SD card if it does not already exist
   • The root of the SD card refers to the initial directory on your SD card where you can see the Nintendo 3DS folder, but are not inside of it
4. Copy oot3dhax_installer.3dsx to the /3ds/ folder on your SD card
5. Copy the otherapp payload for your target console region/version/model from the otherapps .zip file to the root of your SD card and rename it to oot3dhax_payload.bin
   • Do not add the .bin extension if you do not already see it
6. Reinsert your source 3DS SD card into your source 3DS
7. Power on the source 3DS

Section I-II - Prep Work - Target 3DS

1. Power off the target 3DS
2. Insert the target 3DS SD card into your computer
3. Copy everything from the Luma3DS .zip to the root of your target 3DS SD card
4. Reinsert your target 3DS SD card into the target 3DS

Section II - Injecting oot3dhax

On the source 3DS:

1. Insert the cartridge version of OoT3D into the source 3DS
2. Important: Create a backup of your cartridge save with Checkpoint to prevent data loss.
3. Launch the Homebrew Launcher
4. Open oot3dhax Installer
5. Press Y to inject oot3dhax
6. If you have 3 active save slots, hit A to create a backup on the least important one, else B for no backup
7. Use D-Pad Up and D-Pad Down to select a save slot to inject
   • Select an unused save slot if you have one
8. Confirm your selection with A, or cancel with B if something is off
9. Wait until the installer says "Adding payload finished.", then press START to exit the installer

Section III - Running oot3dhax

On the target 3DS:

1. Insert the cartridge version of Ocarina of Time 3D into your target 3DS
2. Power on your target 3DS
3. Launch your cartridge version of Ocarina of Time 3D
4. Select the save slot with the "haxxxxx" name
5. Once booted into the game, without moving, press A
6. Your console should boot into the Homebrew Launcher
