Common issues

Pretendo Network in an incorrect state

Sometimes when switching to Pretendo, it doesn't fully switch your account to the Pretendo Network leaving you in an incorrect state between networks. Another way to cause this is to load the HOME menu without loading external FIRMs and modules enabled, which may happen accidently if Luma is updated and its config resets without you turning it back on. Even after turning loading external FIRMs and modules back on your console will continue to be in an incorrect state until fixed. Being in this state will cause different errors than usual, and wont let you access any online features.

One way to tell if you are in this state is to look at NNID settings in System Settings, if it gives you the error 022-5432 and then displays your NNID profile rather than your PNID/initial account setup then it hasn't correctly switched. Another way to tell is to look at your badges on the HOME menu. Normally when you switch to Pretendo Network your badges will disappear; if your badges don't disappear then you haven't correctly switched.

To fix being in this state, open Nimbus and select Nintendo. Reboot your console then open Nimbus again and select Pretendo. This may take a few tries.

OOjs UI icon information-warning.svg Removing Pretendo's syspatches will not fix you being in an incorrect state, and will prevent Nimbus from switching networks. Make sure you are on Nintendo Network if you intend to uninstall Pretendo.

Using official Nintendo services

If you want to use official Nintendo services such as System Updates, System Transfers, using the eShop, or updating games, you need to be on the Nintendo Network. Switch to the Nintendo Network using Nimbus to use these features. If attempting to update the system while on Pretendo Network, the update will fail with "Unable to update". Other services may give error codes, you can check below to see if they have been documented.
