custom-install is a [tool] that installs 3DS titles directly to an SD card from a PC, which depending on the SD card's read/write speeds, can be considerably faster than installing the titles on the 3DS itself.

Installation

  • Dumping boot9.bin and movable.sed
  1. Turn off the console
  2. Hold start while booting up the console to access GodMode9
  3. Navigate down to [M:] MEMORY VIRTUAL and press A
  4. Navigate down to boot9.bin and press A
  5. Select "Copy to 0:gm9/out" from the bottom screen menu
  6. Once it has finished copying, press B until you're back at the main screen
  7. Navigate down to [1:] SYSNAND CTRNAND (if using an EmuNAND/RedNAND, navigate down to [4:] EMUNAND CTRNAND instead) and press A
  8. Navigate down to movable.sed and press A
  9. Select "Copy to 0:gm9/out" from the bottom screen menu
  10. Turn off the console
  • Custom-install
  1. Copy seeddb.bin to the root of your SD
  2. Extract the custom-install-standalone zip to any folder in your computer
  3. Run 'ci-gui.exe'
  4. Click on the three dots [...] next to 'SD root'
  5. Select the location of your SD root
   - By default, boot9.bin and movable.sed should have been recognized by the program and auto-populated the respective fields next to them, if so, skip the next two steps
  1. Click on the three dots [...] next to boot9.bin and select its location (gm9/out)
  2. Click on the three dots [...] next to movable.sed and select its location (gm9/out)
  3. Click on the three dots [...] next to seeddb.bin and select its location (the root of your SD)
  4. Click on 'Add CIAs' and select all the CIAs you wish to install
  5. Once they finish uploading, click on 'Start install'
  6. Wait for the program to finish installing all files
  7. Once it's done, close custom-install and eject your SD safely
  8. Insert your SD into your console and boot it up to confirm everything was installed properly
