Pretendo is an open-source project that aims to recreate Nintendo Network for the 3DS and Wii U. This includes but is not limited to, game servers, Miiverse, friends-lists, and more.
Installation
for 3DS, nimbus is available on Universal Updater. For Wii U or 3DS, you can follow instructions on Pretendo's website to install manually.
