3DS:Fixing corrupted games

Is your game crashing or experiencing some kind of unintended effect? If so, this page may be able to help you fix your game.

Before we get started, it might be a good idea to backup your save with Checkpoint just incase something unintentional happens. We are not responsible for any data loss that may occur.

Error d900458X

X being any character, this happens when there is some sort of corruption with the game itself.

1. The first thing you should try is uninstalling then reinstalling any updates.
2. If this does not work, try uninstalling and reinstalling any DLC.

Cartridge

Before anything, try cleaning your cartridge pins, you can do this with a microfiber cloth and 99% Isopropyl alcohol. It is not recommended to use water.

1. Install the game to your console with the cartinstall guide.
2. If the cartinstall worked, launch the game.
   • If the game launches, then restore your save.
   • If the game crashes after restoring your save, your save is corrupted.
     • You can try deleting the save from your cartridge, as it may make your cartridge work again, if the cartridge still does not work, then delete the save from the cartinstalled game.
3. If cartinstall did not work, then your cartridge is broken.
   • You can try the cartridge fix guide below.
   • If the cartridge fix worked, it might be best to cartinstall the game as the cartridge may be unstable.

Digital

1. The first thing you should try is importing the seed with FBI
   • Load FBI, then go to Titles/(your game) then press on import seed
2. If this does not work, uninstall then reinstall the game itself.

If the game does not work after a reinstallation, then it must be the save file itself and it needs to be deleted, which unfortunately means all progress would be lost.

Cartridge fix

This has no guarantee of working, and may make issues significantly worse. Only use this if you are absolutely certain the issue is with your cartridge.

Download the GodMode9 Cartridge Fixer fork by skawo and place gm9_CartRefresh_1.2.firm in luma/payloads.

1. Insert the cartride into your console, then power on your console while holding START.
2. Select gm9_CartRefresh_1.2.firm from the list.
3. When GodMode9 loads, select the GAMECART drive.
4. Select the file that ends in .3ds (not .trim.3ds)
5. Select NCSD image options.... then Fix cartridge corruption
   • You will know that it is working if the Current Hash value is changing.

If this does not fix your cartridge, then your cartridge is most likely unfixable.
