Required Reading
Luma3DS can be installed as a bootloader instead of boot9strap or fastboot3ds, but unless you exactly know what you're doing, you don't want it as it makes updating Luma more difficult and removes some troubleshooting options as it ignores boot.firm on the SD card root if it exists. On this page you will find instructions for going back to boot9strap. If Luma3DS is installed as a bootloader, Booted from SD via FIRM0/1 will be displayed in yellow on the bottom screen in the Luma3DS configration menu.
Instructions
What you need
- the latest release of Luma3DS (the Luma3DS
.zipfile) - the latest release of the SafeB9SInstaller (direct download)
- the latest release of GodMode9 (the GodMode9
.zipfile) - the latest release of boot9strap (direct download)
Section I - Prep Work
- Turn the console off if it's not already
- Insert the SD card into your computer
- Copy
boot.firmandboot.3dsxfrom the Luma3DS.zipto the root of your SD card - Create a folder named
boot9strapon the root of your SD card - Copy
boot9strap.firmandboot9strap.firm.shafrom the boot9strap.zipto the/boot9strap/folder on your SD card - Copy
SafeB9SInstaller.firmfrom the SafeB9SInstaller.zipto the root of your SD card - Copy
GodMode9.firmfrom the GodMode9.zipto the/luma/payloads/folder on your SD card - Copy the
gm9folder from the GodMode9.zipto the root of your SD card - Insert the SD card into your device
Section II - SafeB9SInstaller
- Press and hold (Start), and while holding (Start), power on your device. This will launch GodMode9
- If you do not boot into GodMode9, ensure that
GodMode9.firmis in/luma/payloads/and thatpayloadsis correctly spelled
- If you do not boot into GodMode9, ensure that
- Enter the
[0:] SDCARDdrive - Locate the
SafeB9SInstaller.firm - Press (A) on
SafeB9SInstaller.firm - Select
FIRM image options... - Select
Boot FIRM - Press (A) to continue
Section III - Installing boot9strap
- When prompted, input the key combo given on the top screen to install boot9strap
- If the top screen is blank, power off your device and re-do Section II
- Once it is complete, press (A) to reboot your device
