Firmware Rewiring (Rebuilding) for 3DS, Wii U, and Wii.
CTR Transfer (3DS)
A CTR Transfer is a process that rewrites the entire CTRNAND partition. It is the "nuclear option" for the 3DS and is mostly used to fix bricks that cannot be repaired by other methods.
- Cleaning: Overwrites corrupted system files with a clean image.
- Rewiring: Uses GodMode9 to rebind the new firmware to your unique hardware keys (Fix CMAC).
- Rebuilding: Restores the Title Database so your icons reappear.
Steps:
1. Boot into GodMode9 (Hold Start on boot).
2. Navigate to `[0:] SDCARD` -> `gm9` -> `out`.
3. Select your CTRTransfer `.bin` file.
4. Select CTRNAND options... -> Transfer image to CTRNAND.
5. Once complete, select Fix CMACs for drive to rewire the firmware.Firmware Rewiring (Wii U)
Used primarily for fixing the **160-0103** (System Memory) error.
- Rewiring: If your internal MLC chip is dying, you must "rewire" the boot process to an SD-card-based RedNAND.
- Tools: Requires ISFShax and the Minute menu.
- Rebuilding: You must rebuild the `sys`, `usr`, and `vol` quotas on the new SD-MLC to ensure the OS can boot.
NAND Rebuilding (Wii)
Used to fix "Low-Level Bricks" where the System Menu fails to load.
- Cleaning: Removes "dirty" or "stubbed" IOS files that prevent booting.
- Rewiring: You must inject your unique `keys.bin` into a clean
WII U
MLC rebuild
Mostly used for region changing, RedNAND, and fixing corrupted system files.
WII
Ohneschwanzenegger
Mostly used for region changing, removing Cios/IOS that cannot be removed normally, and removing Homebrew.
