OOjs UI icon information-progressive.svg DNSpresso is an exploit that takes advantage of a vulnerability in the Wii U's DNS response parsing. This should be used if BrowserHax is not possible for whatever reason.

What you need

  • The latest Aroma files from Aroma for your café.
    • Scroll down to the '''Download''' section.
    • Read through the steps and click on the check boxes.
    • Click on Download Payloads and Download Base Aroma
  • The newest release of PayloadFromRPX.

Instructions

Section I: SD Card Prep

  1. Extract and merge the contents of the newly downloaded Aroma .zip folders to the root of your SD card. You should now have a single wiiu folder on the root.
  2. Extract the contents of the PayloadFromRPX .zip file to the root of your SD card and rename the file to launch.rpx .

Your SD cards root should now look like this:

  • Gnome-media-flash.svg (root)
    • Icons8 flat opened folder.svg wiiu
    • Icons8 flat file.svg launch.rpx

Section II: Running the Exploit

  1. Insert your SD card into your Wii U and power it on.
  2. Open Settings > Internet > Connections and setup a new connection.
  3. Once created, click on your new connection and select Change Settings > DNS and set it to Don't Auto-obtain.
  4. Enter in your primary DNS as: 85.215.57.182 and click Confirm.
  5. Click Back initiating a connection test when prompted. Hold B when you see the DNSpresso Splash screen.

Section III: Making a NAND Backup

  1. Navigate to nanddumper using the GamePad and press A to launch it.
  2. Use the Wii U GamePad's D-Pad to enter the following configuration:
    • Dump SLC: yes
    • Dump SLCCMPT: yes
    • Dump MLC: optional
    • Dump OTP: yes
    • Dump SEEPROM: yes
  3. Press the A button to start the dumping process.
  4. When the process completed, power off your Wii U, take your SD Card out of the Wii U and plug it into your PC.
  5. The files will appear on the root of the SD card.
  6. To make sure you don't lose the files, copy the slc.bin, slccmpt.bin, seeprom.bin, otp.bin (and if you chose to go with a full backup, every mlc.bin.part) file to your computer.
  7. Delete the files from your SD Card to free up space.

Section IV: Installing PayloadLoader

  1. Take the SD Card out of your PC and plug it into your Wii U.
  2. Launch Settings > Internet > Connect to the Internet > Connections
  3. Click on the network you previously selected and initiate a connection test.
  4. This time, when you see the DNSpresso splash screen hold X.
  5. When a blue screen pops up, use the GamePad to navigate to Aroma and press A to launch the environment.
  6. Navigate to the PayloadLoader Installer on your Aroma home menu and press A to launch it.
  7. Press the A button to check if you can install the PayloadLoader.
    • It should now tell you that the PayloadLoader can be installed onto the Health and Safety Information app.
  8. Press the A button to select Install / Update.
  9. You'll be asked if you are sure you want to install the PayloadLoader. Use the D-Pad to select Install and press A.
  10. After installing finishes, press A to shut down the console.

Section V: Removing the DNS

OOjs UI icon information-progressive.svg If you do not remove the DNS, your console won't be able to properly connect to the internet.
  1. Power your Wii U back on and open the Settings.
  2. Navigate to Internet > Connect to the Internet > Connections.
  3. Click on the previously created connection and select Delete Settings and confirm by pressing Delete.
  4. You can now exit out of Settings and continue with the rest of the guide.
OOjs UI icon information-constructive.svg The remainder of the guide is the same. Please continue to Autobooting on the Wii U Hacks Page linked below.
