Retro Rewind is a modpack for Mario Kart Wii, featuring 145 retro race tracks from previous Mario Kart games, a channel application similar to the CTGP-R Channel, and other features.
Installation
What you need
- A working Mario Kart Wii disk.
- A USB drive or SD Card
- Retro Rewind
Section I - Prep Work
- Power off your device
- Insert your storage device into your computer
- Extract the downloaded
.zip
to the root of your SD card
- your storage device should now look like this

- RetroRewind
- RetroRewind
- riivolution
- apps
Section II - Launching the mod
- Eject the storage device from your computer and put it back into your console
- Power on your console
- Launch Retro Rewind from the list of homebrew
- You should now be in the Retro Rewind channel menu
- Go to Options, and ensure Retro Rewind is set to on
- Go back, then press Launch
You have now finished installing Retro Rewind! |
Section III - Installing the channel
This installs a channel to your Wii Menu that'll make it faster to launch into the Retro Rewind application |
- Launch YAWM ModMii Edition from the list of homebrew
- Select the source device that has the WAD file(s) you would like to install
- Go to the root of the SD card if you aren't already there and press A
RetroRewind.wad
orRetroRewindWIIU.wad
depending on what console you're on - Once you've ensured you're installing the correct WAD, make sure that the select action is Install WAD, then press A
